The wealthy benefit the most from climate nihilism more than anyone else. Oil companies would prefer we didn’t believe anything was happening at all but they’d also benefit from everyone thinking that we’re all doomed and there’s nothing that can be done about it.
Something I think folk need to hear more is a lot of this damage that has been done *can be undone*. It is possible. It will take huge work, but so much can be achieved, hell we have the power to make ice and just put massive amounts of ice in the ice caps, we can cool the earth and stop so much destruction. We can’t bring back extinct species, but that is not stopping folk from finding out ways.
There is hope, and it is those that want to profit from the suffering that want you to abandon it the most.
Listen, the educated and working *are* putting in the work. There is an alliance of biologists and farmers /right now/ working on ways to prevent seasonal flooding from causing erosion on the precious top soil that keeps /all of us/ alive. Ocean clean up efforts have been making great strides to reduce the amount of plastic and oil pollution currently in the ocean. The Great Barrier Reef is being rebuilt, and fixes are being made to prevent further. Chunks of Jordan’s desert have been turned back into green, arable land. Chernobyl having a blooming ecosystem is NOT an anomaly. We live on a planet that sustains life, and I know it can sustain us if we pitch in too. I know the world is really scary right now, but people are good and they are making a dent in undoing the damage. Don’t give up! We can fix this.

The whole point of the olympics is it’s supposed to be competition between the world’s best athletes and anyone who wins without these people being in the competition has earned nothing.
